Spark a Reaction  (grades 6 & up)

Literary Elements (adults)

For the kids, anything you read counts – books, newspapers, even cereal boxes. Record the number of minutes you read in your log online or on paper. Listening to audio books counts, too. Then, kids can bring the log to the library and get a prize:

Read to Me: Get a prize for every 200 minutes spent reading.

Fizz, Boom, Read: For every 15 minutes you read, put a sticker on our Robot. Read 600 minutes to earn a Summer Reading T-shirt. 600 minutes = 3 Reading Log sheets. Shirts are available only while supplies last.

Teens: Log your books online to be automatically entered in the weekly drawing at Newtown Public Library to win prizes- once for every 75 minutes spent reading. There are also weekly teen prizes given by the Del. Co. Library System (DCLS) including:

  • (3 sets) 4 Union tickets w/VIP parking for the September 20th game
  • (2) IPod Shuffle
  • (3) $10 ITune gift cards
  • (1) Grand Prize- Kindle Fire HD #7

Teens will have to enter a review (as short as one word) to be eligible for the DCLS weekly drawing.
